that can be found on the World Wide Web.  Along with the
link is a brief description of what you will find on that web
page.  Although I am not endorsing and specific product or
service, the web sites found have been useful to me or
referred by one of my fellow aviators.

WWW.DUATS.COM  or WWW.DUAT.COM is a leading resource for obtaining an Abbreviated, Standard
or Outlook briefing, specifically for your desired route of flight.  You may also file VFR and IFR Flight
Plans for your proposed departure time and route of flight.  You must register with at least a Student Pilot
License and obtain a user name and password.  Once registered, you can enter your own specific Pilot
Information and Aircraft Data that will assist you obtaining accurate briefings for the type of aircraft you
are flying.

WWW.WEATHERMEISTER.COM is a quick and easy way to obtain current METARS at specific locations
near your home airport or along your desired route of flight.  The website is well designed and if you
mouse over specific areas of the METAR you can obtain additional information, like crosswind
components at the specific airport.  Recently, the website owner began charging $$'s for the additional WX
features of his web design.  I have not explored this beyond the FREE information provided.  This link will
direct you to the FREE page, because I am cheap!





The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration website is designed and maintained by the US
Department of Commerce and provides excellent weather information for the entire country.  It is a wealth
of information and knowledge related to the "Big Picture" of weather.  It is a great resource for weather
charts and graphs.  When you click on their logo above, you will be directed

Listed above are some commercial WX sites that will assist you in taking a look a broad perspective of
weather in the intended area of your flight.  It is a good tool to use for general forecasting of weather
along your route for long cross countries routes that may be planned a few days in advance.  For local
flights, these sites can give a general idea of winds, precipitation and temperatures.

National Weather Service's Aviation Digital Data Service (ADDS)

The National Weather Service's Aviation Digital Data Service (ADDS) has come out with another
remarkably useful weather site for pilots.  

Designed specifically for emergency medical service helicopter pilots, this JAVA powered site offers quick
and detailed graphic access to METARs, TAFs, IFR, VFR, Icing potential and prediction, radar, and
numerous other weather products.

Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association:  Commonly known as AOPA, one of the
largest pilot membership organizations that provide a variety of services to
pilots including, Insurance, Aircraft Loans, Escrow Service, Flight Planning,
Merchandise and much more.  Some areas of the site require a membership.

Over The Airwaves:  A bi-weekly publication by Author, Robert J. Miller, who
writes on a variety of topics primarily focused on flight safety, both in the VFR
and IFR world of flight.  Sometimes cynical in his writings, but often excellent
topics and thought provoking "Safety" procedures.  Well worth your time.  It is
FREE.

TFR's:  This particular site will depict published Temporary Flight Restrictions
(TFR's) throughout the United States.  The search for TFR's can be narrowed to a
specific area that may be along your desired route.  

Cherokee Pilot's Association (CPA): For Those aircraft owners who are flying in
class and excellence (commonly known as a Piper Driver), the CPA is an
outstanding forum to get both simple and complex issues answered in a timely
fashion.  You must be a CPA member to access the chat room.  For a nominal
annual fee, this is an outstanding place to post your questions or to read about
current issues related to these elite flying machines of the airway...A Piper.

Dauntless Aviation:  This site provides a variety of aviation resources and links.  
I think the two highlights are that is has all the FAA Written Examinations
available for purchase.  You can buy the test you want to study and download it
to your PC and study for the exam as many times as you wish.  This price is very
competitive.  Also, there is a link to FREE checklist for a variety of different
aircraft.  The checklist are well done and can modified for your own personal
needs and desires.

FlightCentral.Net:  This is an excellent site and it is free to register.  A great
weather and trip planning site, as well as, many features that allow you to
personalize the page to you and set-up reminders about Flight Reviews, Medical
Exams, etc.  Take time to take the Tour after you register.  It is only a few minutes
and will show some great features about the link.
